Before the fifth angel sounds his trumpet, an angel sounds a dire warning about the fifth, sixth and
seventh trumpets. "And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a
loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of
the three angels, which are yet to sound!" (Rev. 8:13).

In discussing the three woes, Houteff commented, "The last three of the seven trumpets being woe
trumpets, unlike the first four, some great change, obviously is to take place between the first four and
the last three... The prophetic Word of God leads us on now to the first advent of Christ and to His
crucifixion, the next great events associated with the trumpets. And these events, ushering the Old
Testament era out and the New one in, disclose that the last three trumpets embrace the history of the
New Testament period. The woes, consequently, point first to Satan's persecuting the faithful in his
endeavor to keep them from embracing Christianity, and second to his persecuting the heathen in his
endeavor to Christianize them! The first woe comes with the fifth trumpet." (V. T. Houteff, "Final
Warning," 1942, p. 58). It should be noted that the heathen that Satan persecuted in order to Christianize
them were mainly descendants of the lost tribes of Israel, God's people.

As the end time sounding of the fifth trumpet commences, the martyrdom which characterized the early
Christian church begins again. Satan's efforts "persecuting the faithful in his endeavor to keep them
from embracing Christianity" (Ibid), are repeated as he attempts to stop the spread of the Kingdom of
God. The systems to control mayhem have been broken by WWIII, the people of God's Kingdom find
themselves without legal protection, outside the law, as the early Christians were.

Here is the scripture of the fifth trumpet. Because it is so long, I'll present it in small sections, with
Houteff's comments.

"And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the
key of the bottomless pit." (Rev. 9:1).

""Just as did the star of the third trumpet, so this fifth-trumpet star descended from heaven to earth.
And as the third-trumpet "star" has been conclusively identified as representing the advent of the Bible
then this latter one, since it is similar to the former must stand for something the equivalent of It."

""The Bible and Christ being complementary affinities, each the Word of God (John 1:1-14), then the fact
that the descent of the first "star" is symbolical of the advent of the Bible, compels the conclusion that
the descent of the second star is symbolical of the first advent of Christ. Moreover, the star is
personified as "Him" (masculine in gender), thus being limited to a male person. And finally Christ
Himself gives testimony that He is "the bright and morning star." Rev. 22:16."" (Ibid, p. 59).

""Christ's mission being to bring deliverance from the prison house of sin and of death (the bottomless
pit), and to do so through the preaching of the gospel, the key, therefore, must be figurative of the
gospel, the only power that is able to set free those who are imprisoned in the "Bottomless Pit."" (Ibid, p.

"And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great
furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit." (Rev. 9:2).

""For the significance of the "smoke," we need look no further than to the ceremonial system...  There
we behold the ascending smoke of the ceremonial offerings which, as we know, prefigured Christ's
great sacrifice in behalf of the human race. Accordingly, the smoke which came from the "pit" is
symbolical of Christ's crucifixion and the "darkened sun" and "air" are symbolical of the "darkness over
the whole land" from "the sixth hour...until the ninth hour" (Mark 15:33) -- while He was dying on the
cross. And the darkness covering the land for the period of these three hours shows that at the moment
the sixth hour struck, the "pit" was opened."

""This clear sequence of facts shows that with the gospel key (the good news of salvation through His
shed blood) Christ opened to His captive people, the way of deliverance from the prison house -- the
"bottomless pit" of sin and death."

""Thus we see, to recapitulate in brief, that the "star" is symbolical of Christ; the "key," of the gospel; the
"pit," of the earth, the "smoke," of His sacrifice; and the darkening of the "sun and the air," of the
"darkness" that covered the world during His crucifixion."" (Ibid, p. 61,62).

"And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the
scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of
the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God
in their foreheads." (Rev. 9:3,4).

""With the smoke symbolizing the crucifixion, and the locusts coming out of the smoke, the only
admissible conclusion is that they are symbolical of the Christians who came as a consequence of the
sacrificial blood that was shed on Calvary. And the fact that they were to hurt "only those men which
have not the seal of God in their foreheads," makes this conclusion even more inescapable. For only a
true Christian, one who has a personal experience with God, a perfect knowledge of His Word, and who
is filled with His Spirit, can discriminate saint from sinner. He, only, can recognize who has the seal and
who does not have it, when the latter is cloaked in a counterfeit robe of righteousness."

""Had the Christians not been told "that they should not kill," they naturally would not have known that
they were entering into the period of grace... God's... command, however, to the locusts "that they
should not kill," inaugurates a significant change in His people's dealings with His enemies. The great
principle of non-resistance enjoined in this change, Christ enunciated in His sermon on the mount:"

""Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you, That
ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matt. 5:
38, 39."" (Ibid, p. 63,64).

"And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months:
and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men
seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." (Rev. 9:5,6).

""Preaching Christ and Him crucified was a bitter cup to quaff for those who, because they loved sin and
despised reproof, hated Him and His people...  the locusts became so great a torment by the preaching
of the gospel that both the Jews and the Romans persecuted and killed as many of them as time allowed,
thus fulfilling "the first woe."

""Just think how many were converted on the day of Pentecost alone -- "about three thousand souls"!
And following that "the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved"! Acts 2:41, 47. This
sudden great increase in numbers among the Christians, after the crucifixion, made them appear to be
swarming like "locusts."

""Then, too, locusts can neither be frightened nor made to defend themselves under any provocation.
Neither is there felt in the human heart any sorrow or pity for them, be they ever so ruthlessly killed. Yet
they cannot be exterminated by the human hand. For these reasons, they are a perfect symbol of the
early Christians' indomitable courage and meekness in the face of the cruel oppression of them by their
heartless enemies, and of the impossibility of the latter's bringing about an extinction of Christianity.""
(Ibid, p. 65,65).

""Seeing that the "locusts" are symbolical of the followers of Christ after the crucifixion, and that they
were commanded not to resist their enemies the "five months," therefore, began at that time. And
seeing, furthermore, that death does not as yet flee any men, but still reigns over all, the "five months"
are in consequence figurative time, and extend from the crucifixion to a time when "death shall flee"
from some men; that is, to the time when some will be made invulnerable to death."" (Ibid, p. 72,73).

"And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it
were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men." (Rev. 9:7).

""Horses are prepared for battle by being well trained, a fact which in this connection manifestly
denotes that the early Christians swiftly and proficiently marched on with their message, as horses in
battle array... So obvious as to require no interpretation, the locusts' having "crowns of gold" signifies
their being invested with authority pure and excellent: the authority of Christ... Observe that the locusts
have human faces symbolizing intelligence, but mark especially that they are masculine. Were they
feminine, the symbol would be faulty, for the face of a woman does not naturally characterize a soldier.""
(Ibid, p. 66,67).

"And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions." (Rev. 9:8).

""A woman's hair being her glory (1 Cor. 11:15), and a "woman" being symbolical of the church (Jer. 6:2),
the feminine hair shows that the "locusts" were affiliated with the church, and that she was their glory."

""Though a lion is the most fearsome of beasts, yet had he no teeth, he would be scarcely more
fearsome than a dog. The locusts' having the teeth of lions denotes that the early Christians had far
greater potential power to defend themselves and to kill every beast (man) that was not of their kind (a
Christian) than had ancient Israel against the heathen in their day. For this reason it was necessary to
command the "locusts" not to kill. A demonstration of the power which they possessed is seen in the
fate of Ananias and Sapphira, who instantly, upon Peter's exposing their sin of dissimulation, fell dead at
the apostle's feet (Acts 5:1-11). Clearly, then, if Peter, without exertion on his part, had sufficient power
to destroy hypocrites who came into his presence, he most certainly had as much power to destroy the
heathen who attempted to retard the advancement of the gospel."" (Ibid, p. 67,68).

"And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the
sound of chariots of many horses running to battle." (Rev. 9:9).

""The Scriptural significance of "breastplate" is "faith and love" (1 Thess. 5:8) -- the Christian's only
defense. And the locusts' breastplates were "as it were breastplates of iron," the strongest metal
known. The faith, therefore, of those fearless soldiers of the cross was so invincible, and their love for
Christ and for His people so pure and unconquerable, that "daily in the temple, and in every house they
ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ" (Acts 5:42)... the early disciples were mercilessly
persecuted and killed yet they openly and fearlessly swarmed to the battle-line to proclaim the gospel of
Christ."" (Ibid, p. 68,69).

"And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt
men five months." (Rev. 9:10).

""We have seen that the "locusts" are symbolical of the soldiers of the cross; we know that the tail of an
animal is the hinder member of its body; in other words its rearguard. So we have no choice but to
conclude that the tails of the locusts symbolize the church's rearguard -- its followers... Their tails
representing their converts, and at the same time having stings in them, then, obviously, in the rapid
accession of disciples to the religion of Christ, there was a sting, a torment, to the wicked."

""Seeing that the "locusts" are symbolical of the followers of Christ after the crucifixion, and that they
were commanded not to resist their enemies, the "five months," therefore, began at that time. And
seeing, furthermore, that death does not as yet flee any men, but still reigns over all, the "five months"
are in consequence figurative time, and extend from the crucifixion to a time when "death shall flee"
from some men; that is, to the time when some will be made invulnerable to death."" (Ibid, p. 72,73).

""The fact, too, that the trumpets are figurative, is another evidence that these five months are
figurative time. But why should this period in which the locusts, the Christians, have power to torment
men be limited to "five months"? It will be noted that the 144,000 are called the "first-fruits," denoting
that they are sealed at the beginning of "the harvest" -- the commencement of the time to separate "the
tares" from "the wheat." To the parable of the "harvest," then, we must go for the full explanation of the
"five months" period."

""In Tract No. 3, The Harvest, the time from the baptism of Christ to the close of probation is shown to be
illustrated by twelve figurative months -- six from Christ's baptism to His crucifixion, five from the
crucifixion to the ingathering of the first fruits (the 144,000 -- Rev. 14:4), leaving one month for the
ingathering of the second fruits (the great multitude -- Rev. 7:9)."

""During the five figurative months, the "locusts" were commanded to torment those who had not the
seal of God, but not to kill them. This command implies that after the expiration of this period, the killing
restriction will cease, and that from then on the wicked will be killed rather than tormented only. At that
time "the four angels" of Revelation 9:15 will have prepared themselves "for to slay the third part of
men."" (Ibid, p. 74,75). (Tract No. 3 was subsequently rewritten as "The Judgment and The Harvest.")

"And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew
tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon." (Rev. 9:11).

""Genuine Christians, as subjects of the kingdom of Christ, have over them Christ, their King. Ruling
over them in Old Testament time (1 Cor. 10:1-4) as well as in New Testament time, He is therefore King
over them in both periods. Consequently the Old Testament Scriptures being originally written in the
Hebrew tongue give Him the name Abaddon, whereas the New Testament Scriptures, being originally
written in the Greek, give Him the name Apollyon." (Ibid, p. 70).

""Abaddon, Christ's name in the Hebrew, signifying Him as a "destroyer," shows that in the Old
Testament period He simply destroyed many of His enemies; whereas Apollyon, His name in the Greek,
signifying Him as an "exterminator," shows that in the New Testament period He will exterminate all the

""To those, therefore, who accept Christ as their King, He is a Saviour, while to those who refuse to
have Him rule over them (Luke 19:14), He is a destroyer. Hence, accordingly, the curses, or judgments,
fall (as the trumpets reveal) upon those who reject the teachings and the authority of the Bible, and who
as a result do not have the seal."

""These solemn facts gravely admonish us not to forget the Bible's warning that our treatment of It will
bring one of two results -- death or life."" (Ibid, p. 71,72).

In the end time sounding of the fifth trumpet, the prophecy of the star, the key and the bottomless pit
have a somewhat different meaning.
Here is the scripture again. "And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw
a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit." (Rev. 9:1).

Christ told us that He would send us another Comforter. "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto
you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me."
(John 14:26; 15:26). "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not
away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. Howbeit when He,
the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but
whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." (John 16:7,13).

Three members of the Holy Family were involved in Christ's earthly ministry. "And
Jesus being full of the
Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness." (Luke 4:1, KJV). The
three are Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost was dwelling inside Christ, One with
Him in His ministry. The Star that Christ and His Father send to earth with the key to the bottomless pit in
the end time is the Holy Ghost.

The message of the fifth trumpet is a repeat of the message of the fifth angel of Revelation 14, Lois
Roden. Let us look at her message to verify that the star is indeed the Holy Ghost. Do not be put off
because Lois taught the Holy Spirit Mother as a Comforter. I'll explain below.

(Lois Roden, "Behold Thy Mother," 1980, p. 3).

(Ibid, "Christ And The Holy Spirit, Two Turtle Doves," 1978, p. 17,11).

At the beginning of her ministry, Lois Roden preached the Holy Spirit Mother as a Comforter. By 1981,
she was also preached the Holy Ghost Daughter as a separate member of the Godhead. "Genesis 1:26,
27. The creation of Adam and Eve revealed TWO IMAGES of God on the earth–MALE AND FEMALE, and
was prophetic of the future revelation of two members of the Godhead as two separate Persons, male
and female: in the first instance, of the Father and Holy Spirit as two separate Persons, male and female,
and in the second, Christ and the Holy Spirit as two separate Persons, male and female." (Lois Roden,
"Wife of God," 1981, p. 2). On the other hand, Christ only preached the Holy Ghost Comforter.

Lois Roden taught Christ and the Holy Spirit Mother using an earthly symbol, a pair of turtle doves, born
on earth, reaching into heaven. Christ taught that the Holy Ghost Comforter had a heavenly origin, "...
the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name... the Comforter... whom I will send unto you from
the Father
, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father..." (John 14:26; 15:26). Both taught
"another comforter." "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you
another Comforter, that he may
abide with you for ever." (John 14:16).
Christ taught of another Comforter like Himself. Lois Roden taught
of "another comforter" like herself

In Part 2 of "Christ And The Holy Spirit, Two Turtle Doves," Lois Roden likens her dead husband to one of
the two turtle doves. She was the other.

(Ibid, "Christ And The Holy Spirit, Two Turtle Doves," Part 2, 1978, p. 2). Note that Ben Roden died on the
copyright date of this tract.

Lois Roden likens sin to leprosy and the two turtle doves to the ritual offering for leprosy. She taught
that her dead husband was the sacrificed turtle dove, she the living bird dipped in his blood and freed.
(Ibid, p. 4-7). Here are the instructions for the ritual of cleansing leprosy.

"This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest: then
shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar
wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: and the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen
vessel over running water: as for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet,
and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the
running water: and he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and
shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field." (Lev. 14:2,4-7).

The angel messages are the instructions for the battle of Jericho, the trumpets are the battle itself. Ben
Roden, the fourth angel messenger, was the pattern for (type of) Christ's King, a representative of Christ
(although Christ's King rules a kingdom for 1000 years instead of leading a church for 23 years). Lois
Roden is the pattern for the Holy Spirit Mother, a representative of the Holy Spirit. Although both are
God's servants, neither is of divine origin.

By contrast, the Holy Ghost is the Star which comes from heaven during the fifth trumpet. She is not
officially recognised as the Holy Ghost until She blows the sixth trumpet. Nonetheless, She is in the
Kingdom of God as the fifth trumpet is blown. The fifth trumpet is blown by Her Elijah, a representative of
the Holy Spirit Mother.
"In the FIRST advent of Messiah, He came with the Holy Spirit in power, but in the
SECOND advent, He will come with the Holy Spirit in PERSON, who has to be announced, and revealed in
a prophetic message beforehand by Her earthly representative." (Ibid, "Monthly Field Letters,"
November/December 1985, p. 2,3, note that this is from the December letter, look for the second page 2).

In like manner, Lois Roden, the fifth angel messenger, announced the sixth angel messenger who
followed her. (Ibid, "Merkabah," Part  3, p. 29,30). Note that she prophesied the "latter day message of
Reformation by the Holy Spirit (to the "lost sheep" of the house of Israel), the twelve Star-Crowned
woman in heaven, Revelation 12" (Ibid, p. 30) which she expected in 1990, more than three years after
her death.

She also said: "The church (woman) and the Holy Spirit are synonymous terms. Into the True Church is
gathered the scattered peoples of earth by the power of The Spirit of Prophecy, the Holy Spirit (Mother),
to be translated to the Heavenly Jerusalem – the MOTHER OF US ALL (Gal. 4:26). She is symbolized by the
woman, Sarah, Mary, Ellen G. White, and ANOTHER WOMAN, in the time of the Judgment for the LIVING,
who reveals ONE who never dies, even the Holy Spirit Mother, the Holy Shekinah, the Glory of the
Everlasting Father." (Ibid, "Behold Thy Mother," Part 3, 1980, p. 30). Lois Roden is the ANOTHER WOMAN
in this quote, the first female angel messenger after Ellen White. She is revealing her successor.

(Note: Before Christ and the Holy Ghost gave me, the sixth angel messenger, an understanding of the
Battle of Jericho as the pattern of the takeover of the earth by the Kingdom of God, each angel
messenger assumed that they would call the 144,000 and found the Kingdom of God. They did not realize
that the angel messages were the instructions for the gathering, and the trumpets did the actual
gathering. In the quote above, Lois Roden, blurs the distinction between the sixth angel messenger, a
representative of the Holy Spirit, who is an instruction of the sixth trumpet, and the actual sixth trumpet,
who is the Holy Ghost Herself. However, I am pleased to report that 18 years of daily attempts to kill me
with poison, gas and assassins have been unsuccessful. See No. 5, "Our God Is An Awesome God.")

In Christ's day, John the Baptist blew the fifth trumpet (in historical context), and Christ came down from
heaven as the Star, the Word of God. John and his mother recognised Christ while both John and Christ
were in the womb. (See Luke 1:39-44.) John announced Christ before the beginning of His ministry. (See
Luke 3:15-17.) In like manner, the Holy Ghost is known to a few from the beginning.

There are two other comments I must make about the change from the historic fifth trumpet to the end
time fifth trumpet. Houteff has said that the pronoun "hIm" in connection with the Star means that this
can only be Christ. With the understanding of the feminine component in the Godhead, however, has
come the understanding that with God men and women are equal and both can be designated by the
word, "him." Paul expressed this equality concerning those of us on earth. "There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither bond nor free,
there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ
." (Gal. 3:28).

My second comment, during the end time after the five months, there is a death decree on those who
strive to kill God's people. Here is the scripture again. "And to them (the locusts) it was given that they
should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the
torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not
find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." (Rev. 9:5,6).

When God begins to seal the 144,000 living saints who shall never die, He
intends for death to flee from
them. God does not intend that they be murdered by the wicked. First, God raises His hosts to protect
them, I believe that I am alive because this happened during the fifth angel message. Then God allows
the settlements of the Kingdom of God to protect themselves (with the help of His hosts) from armed
attack. Finally, God makes war on those who persecute His people.

These things are associated with the number five. The fifth trumpet coincides with the end time opening
of the fifth seal, the seal of martyrs and also the fifth trumpet is the beginning of the fifth plague.

"And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the
word of God, and for the testimony which they held: and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O
Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And
white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a
little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were,
should be fulfilled." (Rev. 6:9-11).

The martyrs of the Christian church, slain from the days of the Apostles to the present wait upon the
martyrs killed during this great preaching of Christ, the Kingdom of God and the Law of God. There are
martyrs, yes, but in the time of the fifth trumpet, the figurative five months, during which martyrs could
not be avenged, expires, and the fifth plague begins, not as emotional, but as physical torment.

The torment of those who persecute the people gathering God's Kingdom is described in the fifth
plague. This plague falls specifically and only on the murderous enemies of God's Kingdom.

"And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness;
and they gnawed their tongues for pain, and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and
their sores, and repented not of their deeds." (Rev. 16:10,11). At the time of this plague, the hosts of God
have ceased merely defending God's people from the groups sent to kill them, and have begun also to
torment and kill the enemies of God's people, those unrepentant satanists who conspire against God's

As previously noted, the fifth trumpet is a repeat of the fifth angel message. It continues the call of the
harvest of Israel, the wheat and barley harvest, the 144,000 and the Messianic Jews. Here is the

"And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on
his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple,
crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come
for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on
the earth; and the earth was reaped." (Rev. 14:14-16).

Just as Ben and Lois Roden had a joint ministry, helping each other, the fourth and fifth angels sounding
their trumpets help each other. As Lois Roden taught, one represents Christ, the other represents the
Holy Spirit Mother. Together they continue calling sealed servants of God, who were characterized as
locusts in the days of Peter and Paul, and are rightly characterized as locusts again. That is to say that
Christ is their passion, the Kingdom of God is their glory, they come forth in great numbers, they are non-
violent and they are persecuted and martyred, but cannot be stopped.

The representative of Christ, His King, and the representative of the Holy Spirit Mother, are joined by
the Holy Ghost Daughter as She blows the sixth trumpet. At that time, God will have recreated the earthly
ministry of Christ, whose ministry also included the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost. "And
Jesus being full
of the
Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness." (Luke 4:1,KJV).
More on the sixth trumpet, God willing, next week.
